Indian Arts and Crafts – An Overview

India features as a very receptive and dynamic country when it comes to arts and crafts which has played a major role in carrying the multi-flavoured culture of this oldest living civilization through ages of being at the top of world trade, being invaded many times, being spiritual and moral guru, being a consumer-oriented market-driven economy and being a home to almost all kinds of people on the planet …

UDAIPUR, the city of lakes or the Venice of the east, no tagline will ever be enough to actually define the beauty of this place. It offers numerous places for the visitors to enjoy the feast of nature through naked eyes. One such place of Udaipur is Moti Magri or the Pearl Hill, as it is popularly known as, overlooks the Fateh Sagar Lake in the city. Atop the Moti Magri is the memorial of the Rajput hero Maharana Pratap, which has a bronze statue of the Maharana astride his favourite horse 'Chetak'. Udaipur is an inspiration to many artists as they love to paint the scenarios live on the canvas. I being an artist, have always enjoyed painting Udaipur live. But this time I thought of doing something creative because there should be no end to creativity. During my recent visit to Moti Magri with one of my friend, Jainil Dixit I stopped at the place where the statue of the hero of Udaipur stands proudly and here was I sketching it the next moment. As it was done I asked my photographer friend to click it in a way that the real statue gets replaced by the handmade piece. And here it is, the final result in front of you all.

Hail That Healer!

The National Doctors’ Day is celebrated in India on July 1 to honor the legendary physician Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. As long as people are being saved, the comparison is purely justified. Maybe the Doctor cannot save his patients in a flick unlike the Almighty but the point is he too can. Let us thank them who heal us against all bad health!

Dr. Devil

Should we honour the medical professionals on this Doctors’ day or boycott it altogether as a forbade to every corrupt doctor? It is obvious that every doctor has not succumbed to the temptation of profiteering in the medical world but where are they? Why don’t we hear about them? Even those indulging in private medical services tend to save lives but it is an act akin to an act of god. Is it justifiable the profession of healthcare to the fallen one?
