Patience is to be realized as more than just a quality. Only a patient person can be able to stay stable. Whenever we begin a work, we want instant results. This may be due to the faster pace of life in today’s world. But, we should give a thought to our ancestral wisdom too, which was gained by experiencing several distinguished ways of life. It is a sign of being wise if we listen to a thought of wisdom. Kabeer, a saint-poet of North India, said something which is very relevant in this context:
धीरे-धीरे, रे मना ! धीरे सब कछु होय
माली सींचे सौ घड़ा, ऋतु आये फल होय
This means “everything goes happening at its pace, it occurs at its right time. A gardener waters the farm with plenty of water, but he gets the fruits only when the season comes”.
Everything happens at the time it should be. We should just keep doing our work. This also leads to the concept of Nishkāma Karma (निष्काम कर्म) which will be discussed in some separate note.
May we lead a patient life!
We wish you a good time! 🙂
